We use genetic testing to ensure that our cats will bring you and your family years of companionship. Whether you are looking for a new family member, a show cat, or a therapy cat, we are your source for the perfect Maine Coon.
We employ Optimal Selection to test the genetics of all our breeding cats and kittens, allowing us to know their blood types and compatibility for pairing. We screen for common Maine Coon genetic diseases such as HCM, PKDEF, SMA, and PKD, and all our breeding pairs undergo echardiogram evaluations by board-certified cardiologists. We are fortunate to have two excellent cardiologists who make it easy for us to bring our cats in for check-ups.
Why check DNA and Have an Echocardiogram completed?
Testing DNA and completing a physical echocardiogram on a Maine Coon is crucial for detecting hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), a common heart condition in this breed. Early diagnosis through genetic testing can identify carriers of the HCM gene, allowing for informed breeding to reduce the risk of passing the condition to future generations. Additionally, an echocardiogram provides a thorough assessment of the heart's structure and function, helping to monitor any changes and manage the cat's health effectively.
